Brunei records BND1.13B total trade in June 2020

Brunei Darussalam’s total trade is valued at BND1,132.6 million, a decrease by 7.9 per cent from BND1,229.8 million during the same month last year.

Meanwhile, for month-on-month changes, total trade for June 2020 decreased by 13.1 per cent compared to May 2020.

CPI up by 2.6pc due to pandemic

The consumer price index (CPI) increased by 2.6 per cent last June, compared to the previous month.

This was highlighted by the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics (JPES) at the Ministry of Finance and Economy in a report yesterday.

Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 2.8 per cent, while prices of non-food items up by 2.5 per cent.

Audit Department gets exposure on combating bid-rigging

Bid rigging, also known as collusive tender, is agreements between bidders to eliminate competition in the procurement process, thereby raising prices and lowering quality. It is a major risk to the integrity and effectiveness of public procurement, and deprives the public sector of genuine opportunities to achieve value for money. Procurement units and their officials are therefore encouraged to learn and execute preventive measures to combat bid rigging.

Postponement of the Implementation of Exit and Entry Charges Order, 2020

By command of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu`izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar `Ali Saifuddien Sa`adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Ministry of Finance and Economy hereby announces that His Majesty has consented to the postponement of the implementation of the Exit and Entry Charges Order, 2020 from Saturday, 1st August 2020 to Thursday, 1st October 2020.
