The 3rd Joint Committee Senior Officials’ Meeting (JCSOM) between Brunei Darussalam and Singapore was convened at the J Hotel Brunei on 9th July 2025. The Meeting was co-chaired by Yang Mulia Dr. Hajah May Fa’ezah binti Haji Ahmad Ariffin, Permanent Secretary (Economy, Trade and Industry), Ministry of Finance and Economy, Brunei Darussalam, and Yang Mulia Dr. Beh Swan Gin, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Singapore.

In her opening remarks, Yang Mulia Dr. Hajah May Fa’ezah binti Haji Ahmad Ariffin, acknowledged the name of this platform had evolved from the Joint Committee Meeting (JCM) to the Joint Committee Senior Officials’ Meeting (JCSOM), reflecting the growing ambition and dedication to deepen engagement between the two countries at a more strategic level. It also highlights the importance of this platform as a key mechanism to deepen collaboration across various priority sectors, namely food security, healthcare, low carbon energy, and green economy, as established under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Strengthening Trade and Investment Cooperation in Food and Medical Products, and the MOU on Cooperation in Energy and Green Economy. The 3rd JCSOM continued to acknowledge progress since the 2 nd JCM held in Singapore in August 2024, and further discussed matters led by the Working Groups in those key priority areas.

At the Meeting, Yang Mulia Dr. Hajah May Fa’ezah binti Haji Ahmad Ariffin further emphasized the importance of resilience and innovation in being even more competitive and adaptable, and urged focused implementation, timely delivery and measurable results.

The 3rd JCSOM was also held as a prelude to the upcoming Joint Committee Ministerial Meeting that will be convened later this year, to elevate strategic cooperation, strengthen institutional coordination, and drive impactful outcomes. The Meeting was also attended by Permanent Secretaries, Deputy Permanent Secretaries and other senior Government officials and representatives from Brunei Darussalam and Singapore as members of the Committee and its Working Groups.
