National Standards Centre (NSC)


History

Established on the 21st June 2008 by His Majesty's Decree under the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources (at that time) as a facilitator and authority in the areas of standards and conformance. 

On the 19th November, 2019, National Standards Centre (NSC) was absorbed into the Ministry of Finance and Economy.

Mission

"To Foster and Facilitate the development and use of National and International Standards and Accreditation services in order to support Trade, Government Policy Makers and Regulators and to enhance Bruneian's quality of life"


Objectives

Ensuring the quality of products and services are adherent to National and International requirements; that would enhance competitiveness, growth, market access as well as Bruneian's quality of life.


Roles

  • To lead, facilitate and promote the development of standards and conformance activities in Brunei  Darussalam.
  • Act as "National Inquiry Point" in matters related to World Trade Organization - Technical Barriers to Trade (WTO-TBT).
  • Act as a Secretariat to Majlis Standard Kebangsaan (MSK) since its establishment on 14th December, 2009.
