The Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED), through its Law Enforcement Division, conducted an integrated operation in collaboration with the Royal Brunei Police Force and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces on Thursday, 8th May 2025 at a residence in the Perumahan Negara Kampong Lambak Kanan area.
During the operation, RCED successfully detained three men, two locals and a permanent resident, aged between 21 and 42 years old which were believed to possessed Customs prohibited items which were 1,050 cartons of cigarettes, 10 cans of alcohol, and one vape device. Also seized were cash amounting to BND 1,752.00—believed to be proceeds from the sale of contraband items —and two vehicles suspected of being used in to transport the smuggled goods.
All prohibited items were confiscated and the individuals involved were brought to the Law Enforcement Division for further investigation.
In this regard, the RCED would like to remind the public to adhere to the laws and regulations of the country, including those concerning involvement, possession, sale, or purchase of contraband and prohibited goods. Anyone found involved may face legal action under the provisions of the Customs Order, 2006 and the Excise Order, 2006.
RCED would like to thank the public for their cooperation on channeling information related to the activity that violate the laws and regulations enforced by RCED. Public are welcomed to share information related to any smuggling activities of Customs prohibited items or any violations of Customs regulation through RCED Hotline: +673 8714422 / +673 8721422 or visit the nearest Customs office.
