The Ministry of Finance and Economy (MOFE) in collaboration with the Brunei Darussalam Institute of
Certified Public Accountants (BICPA) held a Briefing Session on Record Keeping (Business) Act,
Chapter 249 on Wednesday, 3rd April 2024 which took place at the Theatre Hall, Ministry of Finance
and Economy.
The briefing which was intended to ensure enterpreneurs understand and comply with the legal
provisions under the Record Keeping (Business) Act, Chapter 249, was delivered by YM Haji
Mohammad Hassenol bin Awang Haji Abd Rahman, Assistant Director at the Revenue Division, MOFE
among which he explained that it is a requirement for every business entity in Brunei Darussalam to
keep business records in an orderly manner for at least a period of five years in accordance with the
Record Keeping (Business) Act, Chapter 249.
Also delivering the briefing was YM Haji Shazali bin Tan Sri Haji Sulaiman, Council Member of BICPA,
who emphasized on the need of bookkeeping and the benefits of preparing Financial Statements that
will help business owners to make an organised financial plan, make financial decisions for the
business and attract potential investors.
