Industry and Business Ecosystem Division (IBE) as the Working Group Secretariat Committee of National Data Coordination Steering Committee held a information session to share the newly standardized definitions of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Informal Sector, Start-Ups, Youth-Owned Enterprises and Women-Owned Businesses on Saturday, 11th November 2023 at the Ministry of Finance and Economy. Amongst the attendees and participant for the session were senior officers and officers from various Government Ministries, Government Agencies, Members of the Chambers of Commerce and other stakeholders from the industry. 

Also in attendance was YM Allen On, Director of Industry and Business Ecosystem (IBE) Division, MOFE in his capacity as Deputy Chairman of the Industry Working Committee. In his opening remark, he shared and stressed on the importance the role of accurate and uniformed definitions and data used for decision making in planning and implementation of policies toward achiving the Brunei Vision 2035. 

In the effort to streamline and ensure standardization of the definitions at the national level, the industry working committee has been created to focus on data necessities to support and contribute to the industry data hub ecosystem and such effort aims to reduce data duplication within the industrial sectors in Brunei Darussalam. At the same time, the effort will play a important role in ensuring the processes and policies are more conducive to the business sectors especially MSME. 

During the session, it was also shared that definitions has been created for various new sectors namely Informal Sector, Start-Ups, Youth-Owned Enterprises and Women-owned Businesses presented by YM Dyg Nur Shuhadaidah binti Arifin, Sepcial Duties Officer II from the IBE Division, MOFE.
