Ministry of Health Brunei Receives Ancillary Laboratory Items and Equipments for COVID-19 Genome Sequencing Machine

The Ministry of Health (MoH) has received ancillary laboratory items and equipments to facilitate the genome sequencing machine of MoH. The contribution aims to support Brunei Darussalam in its fight against COVID-19 and to further develop local capabilities in the field of genomics. The items were handed over by the Acting Managing Director of Brunei Investment Agency (BIA) , YM Haji Sofian bin Mohammad Jani to the Permanent Secretary at MoH, YM Awang Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin.

The handover took place at the Clinical Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory for Infectious Disease, Department of Laboratory Services in Kg. Bukit Bendera, Tutong.

The donation consists of items such as laboratory freezers and refrigerators, reagent kits, consumables and ancillary items to supplement the operation of the genetic sequencer DNBSEQ-G50. The donation came from a strategic investment partner of BIA.

The donation of ancillary laboratory items and equipments strengthens MoH’s capabilities in containing the COVID-19 pandemic by supporting the genome sequencing machine in the Clinical Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory for Infectious Disease, Department of Laboratory Services in Kg. Bukit Bendera, Tutong District.
