​In the month of January 2021, three local companies were ordered to settle fines after their representatives pleaded guilty at the Magistrate’s Court to failing to comply with Section 52(1) of Income Tax Act (Section 35).

On 6th January 2021, Seri Limbang Sdn Bhd and SPI Transportation & Lifting Services Sdn Bhd were fined for a sum of BND 5,000 respectively for having failed to file Income Tax Returns for the Financial Years ending on 31st December 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.   

Subsequently, on 23rd January 2021, the Court imposed a fine of BND 10,000 to Seri Pekatan Sdn Bhd for having failed to file Income Tax Returns for the Financial Years ending on 31st December 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.
