SKN roadshow for penghulus, village heads in Temburong

The National Welfare System (SKN) roadshow was held at the Pekan Bangar Civic Centre Complex of Temburong District yesterday for penghulus and village heads of the district to ensure the dissemination of accurate information on the new system.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan attended the event as the guest of honour.

Also in attendance were Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Haji Emran bin Haji Sabtu and Acting Temburong District Officer Pengiran Muhd Ameer Mubaaraq bin Pengiran Haji Hashim.

Deputy Permanent Secretary (Community) at the MCYS Saidah binti Haji Wahid in her welcoming address said at the early stage of the new programme, registration and assistance application through the SKN will only be open to new applicants of the Monthly Welfare Assistance (BKB) under the Community Development Department (JAPEM) and Asnaf Fakir and Miskin Assistance under the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB).

With the official launch on July 15, she said all applications for BKB and Asnaf Fakir and Miskin Assistance will be made through its website at skn.gov.bn and all applicants must have an email account for verification purposes.

“Applicants who do not have access to a computer or smart phone can register and apply for assistance at the nearest JAPEM branch,” she added.

She urged all penghulus and village heads to work with the JAPEM to aid the applicants in the registration and application through the new system. For information, call the 24-hour helpline at 141.
