Roadshow disseminates information about SKN

There are hopes that the National Welfare System (SKN) is a platform to facilitate people needing help to apply for existing welfare assistance schemes online. This was highlighted by Permanent Secretary (Economy) at the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) Dr Hajah May Fa’ezah binti Haji Ahmad Ariffin during the first roadshow on SKN for Brunei-Muara District mukim penghulus and village heads at the Theatre Hall of the MoFE yesterday.

“In addition to simplifying the application process, the system is also intended to enhance collaboration and information sharing between the agencies involved through a centralised database to ensure that there is no leakage and neglect among the residents who are eligible for assistance,” said the permanent secretary.

The permanent secretary said with the information available, the assistance programmes will be more effective in the efforts to alleviate poverty.

Dr Hajah May Fa’ezah hoped that the briefing will provide a clearer understanding of the purpose, objectives and procedures of the SKN, particularly among mukim penghulus and village heads who are government intermediaries to the people in the country in ensuring the right assistance is provided to those in need.

“Insya Allah, with cooperation from all parties involved, we can ensure the success of the SKN through the whole-of-nation approach.”
