The Ministry of Finance and Economy (MOFE) in collaboration with the Brunei Darussalam Institute of
Certified Public Accountants (BICPA) held a Roadshow on Accounting Profession on Wednesday, 11thFebruary 2026 at the Auditorium, Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College.

This roadshow was targeted at students of the institution, with the aim of providing early exposure to the accounting profession as well as encouraging and inspiring students to begin planning their academic path towards a career in the accounting field after graduation.

The welcoming remark was delivered by Dayangku Masleda binti Pengiran Daud, Acting Director at the Revenue Division, MOFE. She emphasized the importance of producing more professionals in the accounting field such as qualified auditors and accountants to meet the increasing demand for their services. She stated that having adequate audit capacity would ensure more effective auditing, compliance and tax oversight. She also explained that by doing their work diligently and ethically, accountants can ensure clear and honest financial records to assist individuals and businesses in making good choices and planning for the future and further hoped that there will be more Chartered Accountants in the future to support the economy and help the country to achieve Brunei Darussalam’s Wawasan 2035.

This program features a sharing session by Adeline Lau Pik Wen, Director of BICPA Academy, on her experience and professional journey in the field of accounting, the importance of obtaining a certified professional qualification such as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the path to obtaining the qualification and diverse career opportunities in accounting, such as auditors, tax advisors, financial analyst and consultants.

In addition to the sharing session, students and tutors took part in interactive activities designed to improve their understanding of the accounting field after the question and answer session which provided opportunities for engagement and further clarification on the topics discussed, amongst others.

This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts by MOFE and BICPA to promote the accounting profession and support the development of future talent in the financial sector and professional accounting services in Brunei Darussalam.
