Implementation of The New Tafis System (TAFIS 2.0)

The Ministry of Finance and Economy (MOFE) has launched TAFIS 2.0, a new accounting and payment system built on the SAP platform, to replace the previous system commencing on 1st. April 2024, to coincide with the beginning of the Financial Year 2024/2025. As with any implementation of a new system, it is expected that some issues and challenges may arise during the system stabilization period.

Local Companies Fined For Failure to Submit Income Tax Returns
8 May 2024 In the months of January to March 2024, fourteen (14) local companies were ordered to settle fines at the Magistrate’s Court for failing to comply with Section 52(1) of Income Tax Act (Chapter 35), which is failing to submit Income Tax Returns for the relevant Financial Years.

Temporary Closure of Petrol Stations for the Inspection and Verification of Fuel Dispensing Pumps for the Month of May 2024

Industry and Business Ecosystem Division (IBE) through Weights and Measures Unit (SDT) under the Ministry of Finance and Economy will carry out the verification of accuracy readings on fuel dispensing pumps at various fuel stations in accordance with the Weights and Measures Act 1983 Chapter 151. Whereby, the stipulated guidelines under the Act require all weighing and measuring machines used for trading purposes to be checked for their accuracy and validity, and whether the machines have already been registered with the SDT Unit

25 April 2024 Industry and Business Ecosystem Division (IBE) through Weights and Measures Unit (SDT) and Department of Economic Planning and Statistics (DEPS) through Department of Consumer Affairs under the Ministry of Finance and Economy conducted Joint Operation on business premises at Brunei Muara District on Tuesday, 23 April 2024.

Total Trade Grew 10.8 Per Cent in February 2024
25 April 2024 Total trade grew by 10.8 percent in February 2024 valued at BND2,405.5 million, compared to January 2024. This was contributed by exports and imports valued at BND1,547.3 million and BND858.2 million respectively.
