Pengiran Datin Seri Paduka Hajah Zety Sufina binti Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Sani began her career in government service in 1993 as a Finance Officer at the Treasury Department in the Ministry of Finance, and subsequently seconded to the Directorate of Finance & Acquisition at the Ministry of Defence in 1998. From March 2010, she served in a number of posts at the Expenditure Division and Treasury Department at the Ministry of Finance and Economy. She had also worked for a year at the World Bank in Washington DC, United States of America as the Senior Adviser at the Southeast Asia Constituency Executive Director’s Office, gaining valuable experience on global development and poverty-reduction efforts. She was appointed as the Deputy Director at the Secretariat to the Wawasan Brunei Council at the Prime Minister’s Office in April 2015. 

In November 2016, she was appointed as the Deputy Permanent Secretary (Finance & Administration) at the Ministry of Defence and in August 2018 was appointed as the Permanent Secretary (Economy & Finance) at the Prime Minister’s Office. Subsequently, she was appointed as the Permanent Secretary (Performance & Corporate) at the Ministry of Finance and Economy and later changed portfolio as the Permanent Secretary (Industry) in the same ministry. On 7 June 2022, she was appointed as Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Finance and Economy, looking after fiscal matters. She also holds various boardships in many statutory bodies and government linked companies. 

She holds an honours Bachelor Degree in Accounting from University of Hull, United Kingdom.​
