The 27th World Customs Organization (WCO) Asia/Pacific Regional Heads of Customs Administration (A/P RHCA) meeting was hosted in Hong Kong, China on 18 – 20 May 2026. Yang Mulia Awang Muhammad Azizil Hakim bin Haji Brahim, Acting Controller of Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED) along with a senior customs officer attended the meeting which was chaired by Mr. Li Kin-kei, Head of Secretariat Office of the WCO Vice-Chairperson for the Asia/Pacific Region.

The meeting brought together the Heads of Customs Administrations from the WCO Asia/Pacific region, alongside representatives from its regional entities, underscoring the collective commitment to advancing regional priorities. Through a series of high-level presentations and dynamic discussions, participants addressed pressing Asia/Pacific concerns, showcasing innovative customs initiatives, robust enforcement strategies, and diverse training practices. The gathering not only highlighted the region’s leadership in shaping modern customs practices but also reinforced a strong culture of collaboration and information exchange among WCO Asia/Pacific members.

In fostering close relationships with WCO Asia/Pacific members, regular intervals of exchanging information on current global Customs issues took place during the session such as with General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China, Japan Customs, Pakistan Customs and Secretary General of the WCO. The WCO Asia/Pacific RHCA Conference is held annually and the 28th session is scheduled to be held before the end of June next year.

Alongside the meeting, RCED also conducted bilateral talks with Korea Customs Service, focusing on possible customs cooperation such as Customs Mutual Assistance Agreement, combating illicit trade, capacity-building initiatives and information sharing.
