The Ministry of Finance and Economy (MOFE) in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), organised a Capacity Building Workshop on ”Green Buildings in Brunei Darussalam” from 18th to 21st May 2026 at the Ministry of Finance and Economy.

The four-day workshop brought together 54 participants comprising officers from relevant ministries and Government agencies, financial institutions, and other stakeholders. The workshop aims to serve as a platform for exchanging views, sharing best practices from regional countries, strengthening understanding, as well as exploring more practical methods and approaches, disciplined and sustainable implementation mechanisms.

This capacity building workshop is one of the initiatives under the Green Building Roadmap in the Twelfth National Development Plan (NDP12). Several topics were shared as follows:
• Climate change, sustainability, and resilience in Brunei Darussalam
• Green buildings as sustainable development
• Green building approaches in the region
• Assessing green buildings
• Financing green buildings
• Role of private sector
• Green Building Fund

During the Workshop Closing Ceremony, Mr. Nianshan Zhang, Director General for Southeast Asia, Asian Development Bank (ADB) underscored the importance of continued collaboration, regional knowledge-sharing and active stakeholder involvement in advancing the Green Building agenda in Brunei Darussalam. ADB is proud to be a partner to the Government of Brunei Darussalam in this journey towards sustainable development and this workshop will build a foundation for moving the agenda forward.

In this regard, the findings from this workshop will be followed up with actionable plan with stakeholders in accelerating the development of green adaptation in Brunei Darussalam.
